Hi!

I'm Katherine Jacobs.

I love stories. They entertain and educate me. They have transported me, surprised me, opened my eyes, and shaped my life.

For thirteen years I lived in New York City and held an editorial role at Roaring Brook Press, an imprint of the Macmillan Children's Publishing Group. I worked with authors and illustrators on picture books, poetry collections, chapter books, nonfiction for all ages, and middle grade and young adult novels. I currently live in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and am a senior acquisitions editor at Zonderkidz, an imprint of HarperCollins Christian Publishing. I continue to work on picture books, middle grade, and YA, fiction and nonfiction.

I've also given lectures, led workshops, conducted critiques, and taught courses about writing for children to students of all levels. I have a master's degree from the Center for the Study of Children's Literature from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts.

About: About Me

I have always been a reader. I grew up in Michigan, and our house was filled with books. I read voraciously, completely losing myself in the world between the pages.

I not only traveled through books, but I've also traveled the world. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Romania and a librarian at an elementary school in Honduras. I've canoed down the Zambeezi River in Africa, hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and ridden an elephant through the jungle in India. In 2017, I walked five hundred miles across northern Spain on the historic Camino de Santiago.

When I'm not reading or traveling, I might be found swimming, crocheting, baking, watching tv, going to Broadway shows, practicing yoga, or mentoring teen female writers.

I believe everyone has a story. I want to know where you're from, where you're going, and what you believe in. And of course, what books you're reading.
